Yes, this will still be possible. For testing purposes, GIM Suite Desktop can be installed alongside an existing acQuire 4 installation, provided the installation path for the acQuire 4 component of GIM Suite Desktop is different to the existing installation path (otherwise, the previous installation will be overwritten). However, once testing is complete, it is recommended that any previous versions of acQuire 4 and acQuire Neo are uninstalled before the final deployment of the GIM Suite.
No, you can install just the components that you need. If you just use acQuire 4, then just select acQuire 4. You will need to include the acQuire Licence Administrator as well if you use floating network licences or node-locked software licences.
No, GIM Suite Desktop will install acQuire 4 to its usual location (c:Program Files(x86)acQuire). Any command line operations or scheduled tasks that reference these locations will still work as they did before.
The minimum requirement for the licence server for GIM Suite is Sentinel RMS Server 8.5.1. If you are currently using an earlier version of the licence server, you will need to upgrade to Sentinel RMS Server 8.5.1, which is included in the GIM Suite Server installer.
With the introduction of the GIM Suite, we have consolidated all our licensing functionality into the acQuire Licence Administrator, which handles the licensing requirements (commuting, installing and activating licences) for all acQuire products.
acQuire Floating and Node-locked licences are available for all Manager, Client, Data Entry and layered licences. Node-locked licences are locked to a ‘dongle’ and can be used on only one machine at any given time in one location by one user (otherwise known as ‘single use’). With a Floating licence, a hardware dongle is attached to the server. This manages the number of concurrent licences available. Licences can be checked out and back in to the server. Licence administration on the server provides security options for the client.
