Overview of acQuire Conference 2009

Date posted: 19/01/2010

The acQuire conference is over for another year, with customers enjoying updated training, technical presentations and workshops on acQuire and industry practices.

This year acQuire moved the conference to Brisbane, to target attendance by our east coast customers. The conference was held at the Rydges Southbank, a picturesque location amongst a lively nightlife and just a short walk into the centre of Brisbane.

Tom Redman, our Key Note Speaker, kicked off the first day with a great presentation on ‘Data - Your Most Important Asset’. He was followed by presentations from acQuire personnel, and acQuire users, from varying topics including the launch of QBox (by Steve Mundell) and Integration with acQuire in an Ore Control System at Barrick (by Stuart Pingree).

Delegates then attended a number of workshops in the afternoon before ending the day with a few drinks and canapés in the foyer.

Day two commenced with comedian Andrew Horobin controlling the formalities. He set the tone for the second day with a few jokes to lighten the mood. As with day one, the morning was filled with acQuire and client presentations, followed by workshops in the afternoon. Amongst these was the very popular Bullshift, an entertaining and practical session outlining seven things we can do to get more honesty and straight talk at work, facilitated by Andrew Horabin.

acQuire officially closed the conference with dinner at the Victoria Park Golf Course. A  beautiful meal and great entertainment was the perfect way to end another successful conference.

Training sessions were then held Wednesday to Friday at the Saxons Training Centre in Brisbane. The usual set of sessions was offered as well as the introduction of aQ107 acQuire Data Extraction into Mapping and Modelling Systems.

Plans are already in place for the 2010 acQuire Conference, which will again be held in Perth, 8th to the 12th November 2010.

Details on the venue will be posted on www.acquire.com.au!
